The Citizens Commission on Human Rights investigates and exposes psychiatric violations of human rights. It works shoulder-to-shoulder with like-minded groups and individuals who share a common purpose to clean up the field of mental health. And shall continue to do so until psychiatry's abusive and coercive practices cease and human rights and dignity are returned to all men.
Jan Eastgate
International President

The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) was established in 1969 by the Church of Scientology to investigate and expose psychiatric violations of human rights, and to clean up the field of mental healing. Today, it has over 250 chapters in 34 countries. Its board of advisors, called Commissioners, includes doctors, lawyers, educators, artists, businessmen and civil and human rights representatives.

CCHR—Working With Doctors

In an effort to divert attention away from CCHR's exposure of their abuses, crimes and harmful practices, psychiatrists will say that CCHR is against medical practice. This is not true.

It has long been the policy of CCHR that anyone with a physical condition requiring medical treatment should see a competent, non-psychiatric physician.

While CCHR doesn't provide medical or legal advice, it works closely with medical doctors and supports medical, but not psychiatric, practices. CCHR is primarily concerned with psychiatry's fraudulent use of "diagnoses" that are not based on science or medical criteria.

CCHR has produced many hundreds of reforms by testifying before legislative hearings, conducting public hearings into psychiatric abuse, and working with the media, law enforcement and public officials. Its international headquarters includes a permanent exhibit on psychiatry's abuse and its negative impact on society. It is open seven days a week and admission is free.

Should you wish to contact CCHR International, phone or email our Public Affairs Department.

If you wish to report an abuse case, contact our Investigations Department.

If you are aware of legislation being introduced or government hearings being held into issues covered in this website, you can also contact our Legislative or Governmental Affairs Department, while matters relating to media should be addressed to our Public Relations Department. There is also a Prosecutions Department, where incidents of criminal abuse by a mental health practitioner can be reported. As a 501 (c) 3 organization, donations can also be made through our Fundraising Department.
